HP Mini 210-1190NR 10.1-Inch Netbook (Red) Review

HP Mini 210-1190NR 10.1-Inch Netbook (Red)
My granddaughter purchased this, although not from Amazon. This is her first computer. She made choices based on how she plans to use it (internet and light word processing, plus photo storage and viewing), and because even though she’s a child, she travels a lot.

I make my review to this model HP Mini-210 1190, although her model is the HP Mini-210 1199, which at the time of this review, Amazon doesn’t sell. Still, they have the same processor and hard drive, and the same Windows Starter operating system. The case on her model (and the tipping point when looking at netbooks in the store) is pink plaid, a stand out for most little girls.

Gateway LT2118u 10.1-Inch Red Netbook - Over 10 Hours of Battery Life Review

Gateway LT2118u 10.1-Inch Red Netbook - Over 10 Hours of Battery Life
Purchased the Gateway LT2118u (with Windows 7 starter) and was skeptical about buying the Amazon recommended 2GB RAM upgrade because multiple people referenced having trouble with the system recognizing the extra memory. The Amazon rep didn’t know…he recommended I contact Gateway…that was difficult…no phone number listed. After researching on-line, I saw where several people stated that they just upgraded the BIOs from ACER and the computer recognized the upgrade. I decided to purchase Amazon’s recommended RAM (2GB 256Mx64P SODIMM 5300) from Cruial…if it failed, I would return it. I installed the memory using Gateway’s website procedures and it worked perfect…booted the computer and it recognized the memory. Computer works recognizably faster! By the way, I didn’t change the computers BIOs…it is still ACER ver 1.15.

Sony VAIO VPC-W121AX/T 10.1-Inch Brown Netbook - Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) Review

Sony VAIO VPC-W121AX/T 10.1-Inch Brown Netbook - Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)
This is the newest model (W211AX) of Sony’s Netbooks and has a extended battery life. While others may complain of the battery- I like the fact that it elevates the netbook up towards you. Depending on the surfing you do- you may have a bit less battery life than advertised. I ordered the pink Vaio and couldn’t be more pleased. It was everything I expected it to be and then some. The Track pad is reasonably sized and much larger than most. The screen clarity is amazing. My only complaint is where the speakers are situated for the volume. I simply resolved this issue on my own and use my ipod head phones when listening to sound. To the lower right of screen you may also adjust zoom level. Your options are 100, 125, and 150. If you do increase the zoom level- You do loose a bit of viewing and must scroll from side to side. The keyboard buttons are a bit elevated and makes it easier for typing. The only other downfall that I could say would be that the netbook only comes with Windows 7 Starter. With this program starter version you are unable to change desktop background. Bummer… I love that I can install my SD card and download my photos too. Perfect for web surfing, downloading pics, typing, emails, etc.
AMAZING LITTLE NETBOOK!!!!!!!!
SONY CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THEIR APPEARANCE, MODELS INTERIOR, AND STAND BY THE SONY NAME WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!

HP Mini 210-1030NR 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9.75 Hours of Battery Life Review

HP Mini 210-1030NR 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9.75 Hours of Battery Life
I recieved my netbook about 3 weeks ago. The delivery was super fast! I had a little trouble getting used to it, but I’m glad I stuck with it because I really like it now. The keyboard is understandably smaller than a regular laptop’s so I had to learn to not hit two keys at once. Now that I’m used to it it’s no big deal. I’m still having trouble with the touchpad, though. It can be rather jumpy and unpredictable and I have not been able to make the scroll or zoom features work at all. I have an Ipod Touch so I thought it would be the same idea, and according to the manual directions it should work the same way, but the netbook pad does not respond in the same way my Ipod touchsreen does. All in all, though, I’m very happy with this netbook. There are plenty of UBS ports and the battery lasts and lasts.

Are you planning to buy a netbook? Are you also looking for cheaper options so that you can save a few bucks and get a great deal? Here is an option, although, looking at its specifications, it is a little difficult to predict how much purpose it would be able to solve. But, then again, it depends on your individual requirement. Lanya, a China based computer manufacturing company, has gained lot of popularity and interest from people when it launched a cheaper than cheap netbook, ebook LY-EB01. This netbook is recognized to be the world’s cheapest netbook priced as low as 666 Yuan (approximately $98), till date.

The word netbook has exploded into common knowledge three years ago when Asus introduced its first take at the now rather popular computer category; netbooks. At that time these computers were uncomfortably small and expensive for what they provided but now they are viable option even as a primary laptop.

1. For those who are concerned about the battery life good news is that it’s better than what you’d expect from a full size notebook. Anything below 4 hours is feature of only the cheapest variations, more than 6 hours is common in the mid-range and for the top dollars you get more than ten hours of wireless productivity.

Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Caribbean Yellow Netbook - Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life Review

Samsung N150 10.1-Inch Caribbean Yellow Netbook - Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life
Delivery was fantastic; the product arrived @ two weeks earlier than the estimate. The initial setup went OK, but it was like flying in nighttime fog with no instruments, because there were NO instructions! There was a small brochure in about six languages that had general topics, but NOTHING that could remotely be interpreted as an installation guide. I’m hoping things will be on an uphill swing, after I get the additional memory installed (for which there were also no instructions).

Works well. The design looks good. I put extra memory, change the original 1 gb for 2gb but I think Windows 7 is a little “heavy”.

HP Mini 210-1099SE 10.1-Inch Vivienne Tam Edition Netbook - 4.25 Hours of Battery Life Review

HP Mini 210-1099SE 10.1-Inch Vivienne Tam Edition Netbook - 4.25 Hours of Battery Life
I am very pleased with this netbook. It runs beautifully, and actually has a battery life closer to five hours rather than the 4.25 stated by Amazon.

The butterfly motif is beautiful on the outside, and in the inside matching icons and wallpapers are beautiful too. The start button has been converted into a butterfly, and it “flies away” when you press it. Too cute.

I usually have issues using the touchpad on laptops and netbooks, but am happy to report that this is not so on this model.
