Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch White Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I purchased my Lenovo S10-2 in April ‘09. I’ve found it to be surprisingly useful. At home I use it extensively to surf the net and keep up on email. I no longer carry my larger laptop back and forth to work. I’ve loaded the little S10 with all of the same software as I use on my primary computer (MS Office Professional, Visio, Project, Adobe, etc.). It’s only a little slow to load the applications and works great in a pinch. I’d make it my primary computer, but the screen is too small and scrolling back and forth all day can be tiring. Still, it’s very handy for travel or when I don’t want to carry my larger laptop. It fits easily in my carry on and add about the same weight as a book. Keep in mind you’ll need also carry an external drive if you want to watch DVDs.

I’ve had mine for a couple of weeks now and LOVE it!! I ordered the extra 1GB if RAM for it (at , how could you not?) and it has turned out to be quite the powerhouse. Battery life is as advertised @ 5hrs and 18 minutes. Being super lightweight, this thing has been a dream for travel, meetings, and even when my wife is using our desktop! GET THIS ONE IF YOU CAN! For stability, ease of use and a good upgrade path, Linux can’t be beat. My first criterion for a netbook was that it run a version of the Linux operating system. The Emtec Gdium fit the bill, so I took a closer look. Reviews gave it high marks for its usb stick based storage and good fit and finish. They panned it for sluggish performance and poor battery life. Since I was looking for a machine primarily to pick up email while traveling, I was not too concerned about the performance issues - when I am on vacation, I try not to do too much serious number crunching that would strain a processor. The battery life was more of a concern, but when I thought about it, I realized that I would usually be close to an AC outlet. The price was right, so I placed my order.

Great little machine. Biggest annoyance: swapped location of Fn and Ctrl keys on the lower left… Nice and light - battery power only about 2 hours; May or may not be problematic for individuals. Great for surfing and email while traveling - wouldn’t want to do photo editing or heavy-duty spreadsheet work for any length of time but plenty of power to handle it. No complaints.

I got this 10″ laptop for under 0. I am very much impressed by the features. I think its worth its price…

The only problem i came across now is that web cam doesn’t work with the hot key button, its a software problem, and now I will have to call the customer service…..160 GB and wifi and very light weight.. i think its better than 8.9″ screen size, which you might get cheaper but it way too small…10″ is the perfect and you can take it all around ur house with wireless internet. I would recommend this netbook without any reservations. hope this helps.

- Brushed aluminum looking finish.
- Matte screen. Not sure why they make something intended to be portable with a gloss screen anyway. It’s not like you’ll be watching hi-def material on a 10″ screen.
- 10″ way better than the 8″.
- Keyboard is easy to type on.
- Battery life is decent.
- Very light and portable.
