Lenovo ThinkPad X100E 11.6-Inch Netbook (Black) Review

Lenovo ThinkPad X100E 11.6-Inch Netbook (Black)
I have used this as my main work machine, doing office / productivity work, for about a month now. It is a great small laptop, especially for the price.

Build quality is superb. The X100e does not have a roll cage (i.e. internal metal skeleton) like some higher-priced X and T series Thinkpads, but you’d never know it, probably because the small size makes it largely unnecessary. The case is nice and stiff; the hinges are superb; and in general the build quality seems to be a cut above the T6x series, at least. However, I do miss the slightly rubbery paint from my other Thinkpads; this black matte paint is smoother. Still nice, but not as nice.

Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch Gray Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch Gray Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I highly recommend this netbook.

A key reason I bought a second S10 when I needed (OK, wanted) another netbook: I’ve dropped the first about a dozen times, knocking it off the armrest of an easy chair onto carpet, about 2.5 feet down, and the Lenovo has kept working all this time. (OK, I should be more careful with it, but its hardiness has actually enabled me.)

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1311UBK6 10.2-Inch Black Netbook Review

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1311UBK6 10.2-Inch Black Netbook
I wanted a highly mobile machine (lightweight and long battery life), the Lenovo S10 does the trick. The built quality of this netbook is good, and this is very useful for specific situations like long trips, university, presentations, etc…

Screen resolution is 1024×600 (this is very small these days, but still ok if space is optimized) the LCD is clear and it sports Intel 945GME, 6 cell battery really saves the day, I also replaced the memory using a 2GB module (since I usually end up with a bunch of opened documents/tabs/webpages/programs), and Atom processor is slow, but it’s ok to run web browser, office, music, etc… Also the Broadcom wifi is stable.

Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch White Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

Lenovo S10-2 10-Inch White Netbook - 6 Cell Battery
I purchased my Lenovo S10-2 in April ‘09. I’ve found it to be surprisingly useful. At home I use it extensively to surf the net and keep up on email. I no longer carry my larger laptop back and forth to work. I’ve loaded the little S10 with all of the same software as I use on my primary computer (MS Office Professional, Visio, Project, Adobe, etc.). It’s only a little slow to load the applications and works great in a pinch. I’d make it my primary computer, but the screen is too small and scrolling back and forth all day can be tiring. Still, it’s very handy for travel or when I don’t want to carry my larger laptop. It fits easily in my carry on and add about the same weight as a book. Keep in mind you’ll need also carry an external drive if you want to watch DVDs.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Laptop Computer -2 (Black) - Intel Atom N270 1.6G Review

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Laptop Computer -2 (Black) - Intel Atom N270 1.6G

The IdeaPad S10-2 is Lenovo’s lightest and thinnest netbook, starting at just 2.65 lbs and 0.7-inch thin. New and improved features make this Lenovo’s easiest to use yet.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1311Uw6 10.2-Inch White Netbook Review

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1311Uw6 10.2-Inch White Netbook
I compared Asus and Dell before I decided on netbook. I was a bit weary because IBM sold this line to a Chinese company and I was worried that the quality would be diminished.

The comparable Asus that I tested felt cheap, the Dell that a freind has was nice quality, but did not have all the perks that the Lenovo has.

The 14 points that sold me on this purchase:

1)The 10.2 inch screen is crystal clear and makes for better viewing pleasure. It is a matte screen which I like better than the glossy screen when using in direct sunlight.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 10.2-Inch Red Netbook - 3 Cell Battery Review

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 10.2-Inch Red Netbook - 3 Cell Battery
I bought this mostly for my 10 year old daughter, and for my occasional use. I wanted something small, and relatively inexpensive (compared to a regular laptop). We have had it about two weeks and I’m very pleased with it.

I bought mine in White. I took out the Amazon credit card and got 30 bucks off. I had spent nigh on a month trying to get this decision right. I sold my Asus EEE 901 for 280 and got this for 260 all in.

This machine is a panacea to portable computing needs. I upgraded the ram, but that’s not really necessary… I use it with home broadband, airport broadband and a Verizon USB broadband connection and it goes like hell.

Lenovo Ideapad S10-1311UW 10.2-Inch White Netbook Review

Lenovo Ideapad S10-1311UW 10.2-Inch White Netbook
A year ago I purchased a Compaq laptop for home use, thinking that it would also be portable if need be. Well, laptops can be carried around but they are also a bit heavy. For my birthday this year, after researching netbooks, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad S10 from Amazon along with a neoprene carry case (with handles) and 2gb memory. With the carry case the netbook is about the same size and weight as a small purse! I don’t play games or download lots of photos or videos, so this netbook with an upgrade of memory is perfect for my needs. After doing additional research, I’ve acquired an SSD to replace the hard drive and a SanDisk 8gb memory card for back up, etc. Eventually I’ll load my Microsoft Home & Student 2007 Suite so that the netbook will have the same data and word processing capabilities as my laptop. The Lenovo hooked up right away with Sprint broadband, too. So far, so good — very pleased with my purchase and with Amazon’s great service!

Lenovo 41874KU Netbook (Dark Gray)
